The healthcare sector in India remains one of the largest sectors in terms of both employment and revenue generation. This sector has grown at a compounded annual growth rate of 16.5% and is likely to be worth $280 billion by 2020. The introduction of new medical technologies is witnessing indirect, unintended, or unanticipated effects on individuals, community and on social systems and its socio economic impacts are many and diverse.

The major advantages from developing healthcare technology are -Improved Diagnosis, Discovery of Treatments for Diseases, More Effective Treatment Plans etc. Medical technology has brought many benefits to healthcare providers and patients and have made it affordable available and accessible for the society at large.

India has fostered an enabling environment that is transforming medical technology landscape, improving healthcare delivery and financing mechanisms, and changing patient profile are driving growth in the medical technology industry.

To address concerns like- how to increase penetration of medical technology to improve health outcomes in India - ICMR and FICCI have initiated a program which would translate the technology from ICMR labs to markets - national and international. This would certainly address the concerns of innovation and its commercialization. Medical technology innovation can be the tool to make modern care accessible, available and affordable to all by lowering the cost of the product or delivery.

Dr. Kamala Rai
Global Program Head - Novartis

Dr. Kamala Rai currently serves as the Global Program Head - Pain, Neurosciences and Ophthalmology at Novartis. She has been employed with Novartis since 2008. Her role at Novartis was final accountability for the innovation, strategy, operations, and related development deliverables for Global Program in Established Medicines within Pain and Neurosciences disease/clinical area.

Dr. Rai has headed several positions in several regions across the world, like Franchise Medical Head, Ophthalmology, Region AMAC (Asia Middle-east African Countries), Chief Scientific Officer and Medical Director, Southern African Group of Countries, Regional Director, ICRO – India, Middle-East, Africa, Israel, Head-Clinical Development –Novartis Healthcare Private Limited. She has also been associated with several industry assignments like Research Director- MSD India with overall responsibility for Clinical Research, External Affairs, Quality Assurance and Pharmacovigilance, Group Leader, CDMA, Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited, Medical Affairs Manager, Nycomed Amersham, UK Pharmaceutical Multinational, India office.

Dr. Rai has published several journals and has been invited to deliver lectures at national and international forums.

Mr. Yogesh Andlay
Co Chairman, FICCI National Startup Committee

Mr. Yogesh Andlay is a founding team member of several leading well- known companies in IT, consultancy and education field. Mr Andlay graduated from IIT Delhi in 1979. He was President of IIT Delhi Alumni Association during the year 2006-07. He has also been an active participant in Pan IIT Alumni activities.

He also serves on the board of SOIL – School of Inspired Leadership. SOIL has been recognized as a pioneer in leadership education and has won laurels for its unique approach to leadership development. It is founded on five pillars mindfulness, ethics, compassion, diversity and sustainability. He is at present mentoring and investing in several startups.

Mr. Ajit Rangnekar
Former Dean - Indian School of Business (ISB)

Ajit Rangnekar was the Dean of the Indian School of Business (ISB) from January 2009 to December 2015. Prior to that, he held the position of Deputy Dean at the School from March 2003 to December 2008. Rangnekar has a background spanning over thirty years in Consulting and Industry across different countries in Asia.

Before joining the ISB, he was the Country Head, first for Price Waterhouse Consulting and then for PwC Consulting, in Hong Kong and the Philippines. He was head of the Telecom and Entertainment Industry Consulting practice for PwC in East Asia (China to Indonesia). He worked with Associated Cements Companies, India prior to moving to Hong Kong. Rangnekar holds an undergraduate degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, and completed his post-graduation in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

Dr. M. Shesheer Kumar
Managing Director - RAS Lifesciences Pvt. Ltd

Dr. M. Shesheer Kumar serves as Managing Director and Director of RAS Lifesciences Pvt. Ltd. Dr. Kumar is the Founder Director of RAS Lifesciences. Prior to establishing RAS Life sciences, as a Scientist at Shanta Biotechnics, Hyderabad, he was actively engaged in development of recombinant clones for the production of Human Insulin, Streptokinase, EPO, Interferon etc. Dr. Kumar was also engaged in development of HCV antigen based kit which required cloning, expression & purification of HCV proteins Core, NS3, NS4 and NS5 genes of Indian isolate in E coli. He held the post of Director at Anoop Labs, Allahabad and instrumental in setting up and management of Molecular Diagnostic Lab. He has several publications to his credit in various National & international Journals. He was awarded a PhD by Osmania Univeristy, Hyderabad in Genetics.

Dr. B. V. Ravi Kumar
Founder - XCyton

Dr. B.V. Ravi Kumar - is the founder of XCyton, and functions in the capacity of Chairman and Managing Director. Dr. Ravi Kumar has been instrumental in developing all the products and has successfully launched all the products in the market. Dr. Ravi Kumar's networking abilities have created a huge extended family of collaborators for XCyton. Dr. Ravi Kumar also has been instrumental in getting venture funding, grants and soft loans from Government of India.

Dr. Ravi Kumar was earlier with Astra Research Centre where he was the project co-ordinator and lead research on M. tuberculosis and Neurocysticercosis and also guided a Ph.D.

Dr. Ravi Kumar has done his Ph.D in Neurochemistry from Indian Institute of Science. Dr. Ravi Kumar has worked as a registrar in CMC Vellore and has been trained in Psychiatry at CMC Vellore. Dr. Ravi Kumar graduated in medicine from JIPMER, Pondicherry.

Dr. Bindu Dey
Secretary, Technology Development Board, Dept. of S&T, Govt. of India

Dr. Bindu Dey is Secretary, Technology Development Board, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. She is MSc, M.Phil, Ph. D in Zoology from the University of Delhi. She has been associated with Policy and Planning of the S & T Sector from her Planning Commission Days early in her career. Thereafter, she worked as a Lecturer in one of the Delhi University Colleges. She continued her project work on “Decentralization of S & T Planning” while teaching.

Dr. Dey has played a crucial role in catalyzing the development of infrastructure in the Bio-medical Institutions & Medical Colleges of the North-East Region for research, training & patient’s services and starting major programs on Cancer Immunology and Biomarker Discovery in the state of J & K. On personal front, she is the co-founder of “Chandrabimb Foundation” wherein vision is “ From Therapeutics to Prevention”. She is member of many key committees in the Government of India and Advisor to several national & international organizations.

At TDB, her work profile includes funding companies aiming to upscale, manufacture and commercialize indigenous R & D leads and imported technologies for wider domestic use. She has inculcated the philosophy of proactively interacting, networking and collaborating with all stakeholders towards commercialization of innovative product/process/services in the areas of: Drugs & Pharmaceuticals; Minerals, Ceramics; Chemicals, Green energy etc.

Mr. Vijaysimha Ajaranda
Founder CEO, Audicor Cardiometrics

Graduated from BITS Pilani in 1980 and has spent over 30 years in product development, engineering, manufacturing and market entry strategy in multiple domains of high precision analytical instruments, tribology and measurement systems, semiconductor manufacturing, fermentation technology, bulk drugs manufacturing, factory automation and robotics, aerospace engineering and medical technology. His engagements have been with various businesses from start up to the rejigging of stagnant or failed businesses across the US, Germany, Japan, Russian Federation, Singapore and India.

He is an active member of the FICCI Committee and an active evangelist for invention-based enterprises and the development of a vibrant medical technology ecosystem for India. He is also an avid admirer of geological structures and an amateur volcanologist. Currently he is on the Advisory Board/Committees of a number of organizations including the Lemelson Foundation, AIndra, Zilico Ltd., Inovise Medical etc and is involved with Waste Impact, an NGO working on science and technology initiatives for the sustainable management of waste.

Mr. T. Muralidharan
Chairman, TMI Group Member, National Executive Board FICCI Member, National Board of MSME, Ministry of MSME

Mr. T. Muralidharan graduated as a Chemical Engineer from Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai with high academic honours and subsequently acquired an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad. He founded TMI Network and C&K Management Ltd in 1991 and serves as its Managing Director.

Mr. Muralidharan also serves as the Chairman and Managing Director at TMI e2E Academy Private Limited. He is also responsible for conceptualizing India’s first Internet based IT career magazine, Winjobs.com. His main area of work is Career Planning.

He is actively involved in top and senior level recruitment of professionals in leading industrial houses in India and MNCs like Pepsi, Castrol, Citicorp, Tata Group, Henkel, Nagarjuna Group, Somany Group, Wrigley’s, Ford, ConAgra, BPL, Godrej, GE Group, Oracle, Novell, Motorola, Wipro Group, Hughes Software, HCL, Metamor, IBM KPMG and Dupont. He worked in NOCIL (a Shell Joint Venture in India). He serves as Chairman of the Board of C&K Management Ltd.
